GLORIA STEINEM
The journalist and feminist Gloria Steinem rose to prominence, thanks to her part as one of the leaders and spokesperson for the American feminist movement during the latter half of the ‘60 up until the early ’70s. She was also an active columnist for New York magazine and launched a couple of investments as the co-founder of Ms. magazine. In 2005, Steinem, Jane Fonda and Robin Morgan co-founded the Women’s Media Center, an organization that “works to make women visible and powerful in the media”.
As of May 2018, Steinem has traveled internationally as an organizer and lecturer and has served as a media spokesman on equality issues. She used her specialization to spread and advocate for equal rights for women in all aspects of our society. With that, she became one of the founding pillars of many feminist movements in the United States. Even to this date, she’s still a known figure in that regard and still has a vast influence in many organizations around the globe.
