Fall Weddings

Today, wedding ceremonies occur all year round. However, Amish wedding ceremonies are quite unique and tricky. Most, if not all, Amish wedding ceremonies only occur after the harvest season. In addition, their special wedding ceremonies can only take place once the communions are over, which typically happens in October. With this fact, most Amish weddings take place during the late autumn months of November and well into December.

You could say that this two-month window is an incredibly short wedding season. Besides a two-month window for holding various wedding ceremonies, the Amish can only get married on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and they need an entire day to prepare for the wedding. However, we certainly have to give the Amish some credit for this interesting wedding dynamic, as most Amish couples should have a ton of time to re-evaluate their relationship before getting hitched.
