Cameron Diaz started her modeling career after she signed with Elite Model Management when she was still in high school. At age 21, she made her film debut in the film The Mask in 1994, opposite Jim Carrey. Subsequently, she was cast in a supporting role for the film My Best Friend’s Wedding in 1997, before starring as Mary in the titular movie There’s Something About Mary in 1998, which brought Diaz increased fame and was credited with a Golden Globe nomination.

In 2017, after the release of the remake of Annie, which was her last film, Diaz decided to take a break from acting, citing exhaustion from traveling for films. Apart from her acting profession, the award-winning celebrity also wrote two health books, The Body Book, written in 2013, which was also a New York Times bestseller, and The Longevity Book, written in 2016. After retiring from the entertainment industry, Diaz continued to write a book.
