Dame Joan Plowright was one of England’s top artists of the past decades who made a name for herself in the international acting scenes with her raw talent and undeniable charisma. She got a pair of Golden Globes in her credit and a Tony Award for her solid performance on-stage. Plowright was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Year Honors in 1970 and was promoted to Dame Commander (DBE) in the New Year Honors in 2004.In 2014, she officially announced her retirement from acting because she was completely blind.
