Wedding Colors
Like we’ve mentioned before, Amish people reject extravagance just as much as they reject modern technology. The same rule applies to their wedding clothes. Unlike other Christian religions, where the bride dresses up in fancy white dresses, Amish women typically just wear blue, green, or purple versions of their usual plain clothing.
That’s not all, though! The bride is also the one in charge of making her own wedding gown. Can you imagine making your own dress for your wedding? That would probably stress out even the most relaxed bridezilla out there. Anyway, Amish women are trained to perform feminine duties, including sewing, so making their own wedding dress shouldn’t be much of a problem for them. However, they’re also in charge of making their bridesmaids’ “newehockers” outfits. Honestly, Amish women deserve more credit for their skills. After their wedding, Amish women typically wear this garment to important church events. When the time comes, this dress would also serve as their burial clothing.
