Technological Exemptions
You probably know by now that the Amish are a very traditional and old-fashioned group of people. Their strict culture often keeps them from completely participating in the digital age, but a few exemptions can be made, especially among certain groups of Amish people.
The Amish people are big on being self-sufficient and rely heavily on agriculture for their financial and food needs. With that in mind, certain Amish groups like the Kalona Amish do allow their farmers to purchase tractors to be used in fields and harvest. After all, it’s a good investment if they want to keep up with the agricultural demands of the modern era. Some communities also allow the use of cellphones, but, of course, with certain restrictions. Despite their modest technological beliefs, some members of the Christian community do believe in keeping up with the recent society. However, much of their lifestyle is still stuck in the past.
