The Amish Computer Existed

Computers are one of the most distinct inventions in today’s modern society. Interestingly, the Amish people have their fair share of experiences regarding computers. There has been a computer that was specifically marketed for Amish communities. This computer was the Deskmate word processor, and it didn’t have any internet access nor any music and video capabilities. It certainly won’t run the latest online game that you and your friends are playing.

You could argue that this computer marketed for Amish people is one that’s similar to a typewriter. The device allows all basic word-processing, accounting, and spreadsheets. It certainly is one tool that an average member of the Amish religion can use for business purposes. As it’s a device used for business purposes, the Deskmate doesn’t contradict anything from the Amish religion. The inventor of this unique computer certainly deserves credit for not violating any long-standing Amish traditions.
