The Amish People Is Skyrocketing
As we said, the first Amish families started immigrating to America back in the 1600s. Throughout that time, they’ve been able to grow their population in the United States. Interestingly, there were approximately 5,000 Amish people in the United States back in 1920. Their population has grown quite a bit since then, and today, that number now stands near 300,000. You could make the case that they’re currently undergoing a population boom.
It’s worth noting that this population boom is one that’s only occurred in the last three decades. Back in 1984, there were still only 84,000 Amish people counted in the United States. One idea that deserves credit for this recent Amish population boom is the idea that God desires larger families. Moreover, the larger Amish population should come in incredibly handy and even practical when building a workforce for their farms.
