A(mish)capella
Music is one way of invoking various feelings. It’s been around for thousands of years, and humans have been using it as a way to spend time as well as to express a variety of emotions. However, Amish people, similar to their faceless dolls, do not play any musical instruments. They certainly won’t care about who’s the next pop superstar or what’s the next trendy pop act will be.
The reason why Amish people do not play any musical instruments is that playing such instruments may encourage feelings of pride and superiority. As you know by now, the Amish religion is incredibly modest, and it teaches its people to strongly oppose pride and arrogance. They certainly deserve credit for staying true to their values, but one can only imagine how quiet and dull life may be without music from an outsider’s perspective.
