Barret Oliver | Photography Instructor

Recognized for his role in the film adaptation of the novel The Neverending Story as Bastian Balthazar, Barret Oliver first had minor roles in television and film before starring in a movie back in 1984. Following that movie, he was cast as the lead character in the short film Frankenweenie that same year and as the android Daryl in the science fiction movie D.A.R.Y.L. the following year, where he was credited with a Saturn Award for the latter film.

Upon seeing his older brother appear in small roles in a number of films, Oliver became interested. Eventually, he started auditioning for film and television roles. Living in Los Angeles helped him develop an affinity for performing arts in front of the camera, as it’s the center of the American entertainment landscape. Later, after starring in two films after D.A.R.Y.L., Oliver quit acting to focus on his photography career. Currently, he teaches photography through workshops and classes in Los Angeles.
