Carrie Henn | Elementary Teacher

Widely known for playing Rebecca ‘Newt’ Jorden in the American science fiction Aliens, Carrie Henn gained recognition for her debut performance from fans and critics alike and was credited with the Saturn Award. Her career began after her family moved to England in the mid-‘80s, where her father, a non-commissioned United States Air Force officer, was transferred to the United Kingdom. At the time, the casting director for the film was having a hard time looking for a child actor to play the part of Newt since most of the 500 children who auditioned ended up smiling while delivering the dialogue.

While at the school’s cafeteria near Lakenheath, England, Henn was spotted by casting agents and subsequently auditioned in Pinewood Studios. Needless to say, she was selected for the part despite having no experience in acting. The film became a massive success and won two Academy Awards and eight Saturn Awards. At the moment, Henn is working as a teacher at Shaffer Elementary School in Atwater, California, where she also resides.
