Danny Lloyd | Biology Professor

Danny Lloyd is best known as a former child actor notable for his role in the horror film The Shining in 1980 as Danny Torrance, which is an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel in 1977 of the same title. Lloyd was selected for the role precisely for his ability to keep a laser-like degree of focus and concentration for an extended period. According to John Baxter and Garrett Brown in a DVD commentary, they stated that the six-year-old actor (at the time) didn’t even realize he was in a horror film while Kubrick was filming all of Lloyd’s scenes.

At the age of ten, Lloyd retired from acting despite his well-received performance in the film. The last television show he starred in was Will: G. Gordon Liddy in 1982. In recent years, he works as a biology professor at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College in Kentucky in 2014. After 38 years since his first acting role, Llyod appeared in the Shining sequel, Doctor Sleep, as a spectator at a baseball game in the film.
