Peter Ostrum | Veterinarian

Everyone who saw the iconic 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory would surely recognize Peter Ostrum. He played the “Charlie Bucket” role in the movie when he was just 12 years old! The talent agents personally selected Ostrum, and although he enjoyed the experience, he decided not to sign a three-film contract after shooting the film. Instead, he gravitated towards pursuing a degree and working a regular job.

Today, Ostrum is working as a veterinarian. It’s certainly a complete contrast from the Hollywood lifestyle that he was bound for after the filming of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. We’d certainly have to commend his educational attainments as he received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University. He’s currently living in Lowville, New York, and if you’ll be able to have a former child star as your vet if you live around the area.
