At this point, it’s safe to assume – if not all – of us recognize MC Hammer to some degree. Born Stanley Kirk Burell, MC Hammer is often known nowadays for his hit record U Can’t Touch This. What many fail to take notice of, however, is the origin of his stage name. During his childhood, Hammer had the chance to work with the Oakland A’s baseball team. Throughout that period, he was often called “Hammer” – he added “MC” not long after.

Another interesting fact about the rapper would be his many business ventures through the years. While he may have established his very own mixed martial arts management company and horse stable, Hammer has also made quite a name for himself in the technology side of things. Among these endeavors, however, perhaps the most impressive one would be his partial ownership of one of the internet’s most used social media platforms, Twitter.
