American actress Karyn Parsons skyrocketed to fame for portraying Hilary Banks on the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. She also starred in Major Payne opposite Damon Wayans and played Toni in The Job.
Besides her acting job, Parsons is the creator of a line of animated films titled Sweet Blackberry, which focuses on unsung black heroes. She has also ventured into authoring two books for children. The first book is a middle-grade novel titled How High the Moon, inspired by her mom’s childhood stories in the Jim Crow South. On the other hand, her second book, Flying Free, is a picture book illustrated by R. Gregory Christie and Bessie Coleman’s biography. The actress turned author married fellow star Randy Brooks in 1987, but they hired lawyers for their legal separation. She tied the knot with director Alexandre Rockwell in 2003.
