Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard knew each other through Maggie’s brother Jake, who is the latter’s close friend. However, they did not have romantic feelings for one another until 2002, when they began to date. In 2006, they became engaged and three years later, on May 2, 2009, they tied the knot in a small chapel in Southern Italy. Together, they have two children, Ramona, born in October 2006, and Gloria Ray, born in April 2012.

They currently live in a townhouse in Brooklyn but they listed the house for sale for $4.6 million. They were able to sell it and get a $2.7 million return of investment since they bought the house for $1.91 million in 2006. While the couple has separate but successful acting careers, they worked together recently for the upcoming film The Lost Daughter. It was the directorial debut of Gyllenhaal — the film was directed and produced by her and had Sarsgaard among the cast.
