JAMIE KENNEDY

Another Scream alumni, Jamie Kennedy was best known for his role as Randy Meeks. His career took a negative turn when he starred in the 2005 film, Son of the Mask. His attempt to be Jim Carrey’s successor put a stark end to his budding career.

The backlash was so bad that Kennedy made a documentary about the destructive power or movie blogs. Later on, he made investments in order to form a production company named Wannabe.

JUSTIN CHATWIN

Same with the Superman series, the Dragon Ball Z series is well-loved and venerated by its fans. Given this, it’s expected that they have high standards for anyone who’ll attempt at it. For Chatwin, the risk didn’t pan out when he took the role of Goku in the live-action film, Dragon Evolution.

The film was so hated by fans and critics and was problematic at the very start given that Chatwin was playing an Asian character. The production team gained back a fraction of their investment money but the film was definitely not the box-office hit they were aiming for.

BRUCE WILLIS

Like Sean Connery, Bruce Willis’ most well-loved film franchise also affected his health negatively. Die Hard is a pop-culture classic and it continues to be well-loved by new generations of fans. However, an accident on the set left Willis partially deaf in his left ear. By all intents and purposes, the actor could’ve called a lawyer and sued the production team but he didn’t.

Despite his hearing loss, he still remains to be one of the most bankable stars of all time.

COURTNEY THORNE-SMITH

Television stars tend to spread their wings by leaving their shows and trying their hand on the silver screen. This is the same case with Courtney Thorne-Smith. Thorne-Smith left her show, Melrose Place, to star in Chairman of the Board back in 1998. The film was not well-received by critics and the public, and the blame fell on Thorne-Smith’s shoulders.

She bounced back with the award-winning Ally McBeal series where she played the character of Georgia Thomas, a lawyer.

JUDY GARLAND

The Wizard of Oz is a landmark piece of cinema with its genre, costume design, set, and camera and editing techniques. Its lead, Judy Garland, rose to fame with the film’s success. However, it’s not all spring and roses as the production team constantly pressured Garland to lose weight.

Garland resorted to not eating and smoking cigarettes to lose the pounds. Credit was given due, at least, when she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.

ROBERTO BENIGNI

Roberto Benigni starred in one of the most-heartbreaking war movies ever made, 1997’s Life is Beautiful. He not only starred in it, but he also wrote and directed the film. To his credit, he won an Academy Award for Best Actor in the said film.

However, five years after, he was named Worst Actor for his work in the 2002 Pinocchio. Despite this, Benigni still receives praise for his contributions to the industry. In fact, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

ALICIA SILVERSTONE

Alicia Silverstone was an icon of the 1990s teen flicks. Up until today, she’s remembered in pop culture as Cher Horowitz, a rich high schooler dealing with adolescence while helping her lawyer father, from Clueless. While she was great in teen flicks, the same could not be said about her work as Batgirl in Batman & Robin. Even George Clooney’s fame couldn’t salvage the film and Silverstone went from “it-girl” to “has-been”.

TAYLOR LAUTNER

Ask any girl who was in high school during the late 2000s and they’d know who Taylor Lautner is. He made teens swoon as Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga, by appearing on screen frequently without a shirt.

His popularity carried him to land roles in action films such as Incarceron, directed by Michael Bay. Lionsgate made big investments in his career only for it to fall short when Abduction didn’t do well at the box office. Since then, Lautner has been struggling to find his footing outside his werewolf role.

VIN DIESEL

The duality of Vin Diesel can be seen in his work in Fast & Furious and The Pacifier. Unfortunately, his work in Disney’s The Pacifier proved that he’s best to stick to action films. The family comedy was received with a lukewarm reception. To his credit, it was deemed “moderately funny” by critics, so it’s not a complete loss.

Good thing he had the Fast & Furious franchise to fall back on.

EFREN RAMIREZ

Efren Ramirez rose to pop culture stardom with his role as Pedro in the cult classic, Napoleon Dynamite. This paved the path to him landing bigger roles on screen and television afterward.

However, the cause of his fading can sadly be traced to his twin, Carlos Ramirez. Carlos capitalized on his twin’s popularity and began making paid public appearances posing as the actor. Efren had to bring in a lawyer and sue his brother for $10 million for falsely impersonating him without his consent.

Sadly, the debacle put an end to a budding promising career.
